This early twentieth century image captures the middle and upper sections of the Pont du Gard aqueduct bridge as it appeared at the turn of the century. The ancient Roman structure was built in the first century AD and is located in Vers Pont du Gard near Remoulins. Added to the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in 1985, it is the highest Roman aqueduct
